The guide includes accounts of African-American history, seven travel itineraries, maps of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, pictures and descriptions of tours, historical sites and attractions. A 352-year African-American timeline highlights significant events in African-American history in Annapolis & Anne Arundel County.
How are the itineraries different from those in other guides?
Seven unique itineraries offer suggestions for visitors who want to explore African-American heritage throughout the County. The itineraries are extremely user-friendly and not only direct visitors to African-American sites and attractions, but also lead them to other amenities, restaurants and attractions that may fit into the itinerary. Nineteen separate icons that appear throughout the guide indicate everything from wheelchair accessibility and public restrooms to waterfront views, restaurants and walking tours.

This guide introduces visitors to an authentic account of history both good and bad. The guide tells of slavery, injustice and mistreatment as well as the successes, triumph and spirit of African-Americans in Annapolis & Anne Arundel County.
