Louis Jefferson III

Louis Jefferson III was born and raised in and around New Haven Connecticut. From an early age he has always had artistic ambitions. Naturally an artist by trade, Jefferson began his art career as soon as he could pick up a pencil. At age six, when in first grade, he was told by his art teacher and peers that he could draw at a third grade level. When in sixth grade he was considered to be on a high school level.

Guided by his long time art teachers and mentors, Ed Jefferson (Uncle) and Brian Flinn, Louis began to develop his artistic talent in his early high school years, at hopes of becoming as skilled as his instructors. Desperate to be discovered, he brought his work to a local gallery, where he offered to sell prints. Instead of buying prints, the generous gallery owner, Margaret Coleman, gave Jefferson the opportunity of a lifetime. She allowed him to have his very own art show, while selling prints to others. At the tender age of seventeen, Jefferson went on to have his own art show at Coleman Design and Art Gallery, where he fell in love with ?the art of the deal.? Jefferson went on to win various prestigious awards including a scholarship from, the Jaime A. Hulley fund for the arts, which allowed him to attend Southern Connecticut State University. Jefferson soon had the opportunity to attend the Philadelphia International Art Expo, where he marveled at the organization and talent displayed throughout the aisles. Shortly after forming Young Renaissance, Jefferson began realizing the possibility of having an art show in Connecticut. With the efforts of Coleman's Design and Art Gallery and others, the idea began to blossom. Recently, Jefferson has been organizing events for Young Renaissance, including various art and talent shows. But his main focus, today, is on putting together the 1st Annual Connecticut International Art Expo, a predominantly black exposition. Your help with sponsorship, fundraising, volunteering or simply attendance can make the 1st Annual Connecticut International Art Expo a sure success.
