Kelvin Henderson
Kelvin is a self-taught artist and framer hailing from the small town of Henderson, NC, now residing in Suitland, MD. A former federal government worker, he resigned to pursue his dream full time. He has established himself among the elite artists in the country in a relatively short span of time. His work is recognized for his vibrant primary colors in oils and acrylics. Inspired by God, Kelvin seeks to create positive inspirational images everyone can enjoy.
Kelvin started FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT, Fine Art and Custom Framing, in 1995. Through his company, he handles all the advertising and publishing for his work. Kelvin strives to spread the true meaning of fruit of the spirit, and credits Jesus Christ for all of his blessings. He is married to his partner and friend of more than twenty years, Merilyn; and they have two sons and a daughter.
Kelvin's first published work was featured at the 1997 Frame-O-rama/Galleria show in New York City. He has been the featured artist for UPSCALE magazine and INSTYLE TV, NY. After receiving the Favorite Emerging Artist 2000 Heritage Award, African American Visual Arts Association (AAVAA), Baltimore, MD, Kelvin has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the AAVAA. Kelvin was the two-time recipient of the First Annual 2002 Palette Awards in Atlanta, GA. He is registered at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC in the Who's Who Among National Artists.
