Cheryl Alston Willis

Cheryl Alston Willis lives in White Plains, MD. Her roots are in Rocky Mount, NC – true country, where she used to sit and write about how she, like the cows in the pasture, would get beyond the electric fence and find her destiny. Now that she has done that, she is tapping into the literary world, trying her hand at poetry and fiction. Cheryl writes under the name "b.d.simms," because that was her name given to her by her biological mother. Since her mother is no longer alive and she has sisters out there somewhere, it seems appropriate for Cheryl to expose this name, while giving respect to her mother.

"A Place in My Heart" is a compilation of relationship poetry. For a period of two years, Cheryl wrote about situations in her own or friends' relationships. When she penned a piece and shared it with friends, they immediately knew it told about their particular situation. This book is universal because, every living being is in a relationship. Whether it is with your mother, father, lover, sister, and brother – connecting with another begins a relationship. Cheryl feels that people have a purpose in your life, no matter how long or how short the duration. In this book, each poem has a synopsis of it on the preceding page, so that the reader knows what the author was experiencing when she wrote it. Please read an excerpt from "A Place in My Heart" at www.buybooksontheweb.com. Soon you will be able to read Cheryl's next book titled, "Too Dark," about an adopted girl who had to deal with color issues within her own race and family. It is a compelling story you don't want to miss!
