tackles the tough issue of bullying. It touches on how a community can lose
out on precious resources when they let misconceptions prevent them from
engaging others who may not think, look, or act exactly like them. The presentation
will focus on respecting differences, appreciating the contribution of others,
and the role we each play in working together to create a better world for
all.

The workshop consists of a read-a-loud,
and an engaging conversation centered around strategies that help children
overcome obstacles by making positive choices that that will aid them in
accomplishing their dreams. There will be an activity followed by a question
answer session. (45 minutes)
This event is a wonderful way to impart valuable lessons while promoting
an excitement for literacy in children. Become a lightening rod of inspiration
by bringing children to experience this special treat. Meet the amazing
author behind two stories that are sure to become a family/classroom favorite.

Victoria Christopher Murray, a highly
successful Christian fiction author, will host a tribute to E. Lynn Harris,
introducing “Mama Dearest,” published after his death by Simon and Schuster.
E. Lynn was more than an author. He was a father, a friend, and a man
who loved his fans! Celebrate the release of his latest novel, “Mama Dearest,”
and participate in the drive to make it #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers
list. Authors have been leading tributes around the country to say, "Thank
you!" to this wonderful man and barrier-breaking author.

Everyone has a life story to tell. How do you transform your life story
into something publishable? Writer Lori L. Tharps will share her secrets to
writing a successful memoir.
- Writing Across Different Genres (Facilitator: Milton McGriff)
This workshop examines some basics of novel and screenplay writing. Techniques
for adapting a novel for the screen will also be discussed and why we frequently
hear “the novel was better than the movie.” Aspiring writers will also be
told about “the talent of the room.” There will be a Q & A period.
