    Faith Ringgold may be the most important woman artist in America.  She is a professor of art at the University of California and has been awarded 10 honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degrees. She has received more than 50 awards and honors, among them:  The National Endowment for the Arts Award; The La Napoule Foundation Award; The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship; The New York Foundation for Arts Award; The American Association of University Women and The Creative Artists Public Service Award.
